
NAGPUR, March 23, 2026: The Vidarbha Economic Development (VED) Council, in collaboration with Maha Metro, successfully organized “VED Metro Connect,” an impactful interactive session held yesterday at Narayani Memorial Hall. The event served as a strategic platform to advocate for a transition from private vehicle dependency toward the eco-friendly, world-class infrastructure of Nagpur Metro.
Speaking at the session, Rina Sinha, President of the VED Council, emphasized that Nagpur’s MajhiMetro represents a transformative shift in urban identity and environmental stewardship. “By aggressively leveraging solar energy and prioritizing eco-friendly mobility, Nagpur Metro serves as a modern blueprint for infrastructure that is efficient, safe, and environmentally conscious,” Sinha stated, reinforcing the Council’s commitment to sustainable industrial development.
Strategic Insights on Green Mobility
A central highlight was the technical keynote by Mr. Moroney, Joint General Manager (Maha Metro), who provided an in-depth look at the system’s diverse services and seamless multi-modal integration. He addressed the critical challenges of private vehicle dependency, noting that the city’s future depends on a collective shift away from the “single-occupancy vehicle” culture.
Shiv Kumar Rao, Past President of the VED Council, delivered a compelling case for the Metro as the definitive solution for Nagpur’s transit challenges. During the session, Rao presented a strategic connectivity proposal to Maha Metro officials, suggesting optimized feeder routes and enhanced last-mile solutions to ensure the Metro becomes the primary choice for every commuter.
Collaborative Leadership
The event saw significant participation from Parag Date, President of the Rotary Club of Nagpur, who highlighted the multifaceted benefits of the Metro, aligning it with global missions of environmental conservation and community service.
The session was expertly moderated by Aliasger Wagh (Joint Secretary, VED), while Aatish Jindal (Joint Secretary, VED) introduced the distinguished speakers and guests. Amit Yenurkar (Joint Secretary, VED) delivered a keynote on the Metro’s role in modernizing Nagpur. The presence of VED members Amit Parekh, Arun Hazare, and Navin Malewar further underscored the Council’s support for infrastructure that drives regional economic growth.
Launching the “Monthly Progress Pulse” In a significant addition to the proceedings, the VED Council officially released the latest edition of its “Monthly Progress Pulse” magazine. This publication serves as a vital record of the region’s developmental milestones and the Council’s ongoing advocacy efforts for a more prosperous Vidarbha.
The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Mohamad Master, VED Council member, expressing gratitude to Maha Metro officials and the citizens of Nagpur for their commitment to a sustainable urban hub.
